With spring starting to tease us, office brackets causing fights, St. Patrick’s Day in a few weeks and sequestration about to hit, it’s time to just pop bottles and hold on for the long haul because this month isn’t gonna slow down. So let’s say goodbye to February and hello to March with a weekend lineup sure to set the tone.

Meet Brian Johnson, aka the Hungry Lobbyist. Johnson runs the popular food and lifestyle blog, The Hungry Lobbyist, where you can read about the sequester while browsing for the perfect power lunch spot. FamousDC is also lucky enough to have him write a bi-weekly column, Feasting Famously, where he interviews folks around the District about their favorite meals, what they cook and the weirdest things in their fridge. With a site redesign and several new content areas, we thought it was prime time to introduce you to the Hungry Lobbyist.

Feasting Famously with Necessary & Proper Fashion-Forward Founders Lauren & Van Dish about Cooking, Hosting, and Entertaining As I’m walking to PJ Clarke’s Sidecar to meet the founders of the popular DC-based fashion blog Necessary & Proper, Lauren and Van, I find myself oddly nervous. Am I dressed appropriately (that’s silly, of course), will they be nice, down-to-earth, absurdly well dressed, and easy to talk to? The answer to all of the above, as I soon found out, is a resounding “yes.” Launched in January 2012 as a site to showcase their personal fashion sense, trending styles, local brands and entertaining concepts, Necessary & Proper soon became a top blog for social-style in the District. Not taking themselves too seriously, Lauren & Van show the masses how to combine patterns, colors, and textured fabrics into cohesive outfits. Haven’t we all struggled with what is the proper attire when walking through the park in the snow? Or what to wear when playing in a pile of leaves? Is my Smith Point outfit acceptable to wear again to Martin’s Tavern brunch (the answer is no)? These are some of the fun and admitting outlandish, photo-shoots (sans the last one) that Lauren and Van use to showcase their fashionable combinations.

Exhibit Openings, Social Media Week and the Oscars; It’s gonna be a packed weekend so take a minute to get ready, set and go!

Meet Ericka Andersen. Ericka handles all of the social media for The Heritage Foundation, but when she is not in the office she is managing her fitness blog, The Sweet Life. A visit to her blog provides followers with information on running and living a healthy lifestyle, but Ericka also likes to incorporate exciting moments from her life outside of the fitness realm. FamousDC got a chance to learn more about Ericka’s blogging success.

Congratulations to the newly engaged couple Brad Dayspring and Lauren Pratapas. Dayspring recently began work as a strategist at the NRSC and Pratapas joined the team at Story Partners last spring. Right after he popped the question this past weekend.

Congrats to Eric Wilson on the new gig as Digital Director at American Action Network. Today is Wilson’s last day Engage and we wish him all the best. P.S. We’ll also be sure to send along a few FDC stickers for the AAN office.

3 day weekend, 3 nights of fun. What could be better? Time to kick off tonight with new a happy hour spot and end with the extra day for recovery on Monday.

Will he take his talents to South Beach? Will he join Coach K as an Assistant Coach? If you had Kyle Nevins in your office pool for “which Roll Call Fab 50 staffer will be the first to leave?” — then you just made bank. According to a release from …

Meet Lia Seremetis. Lia Seremetis is the founder and leader of DC Bike Party, a monthly ride through DC that focuses on the fun of riding in a group and always ends at a bar (how could you not love this?!). Seremetis is a communications professional in DC by day and also writes for FamousDC. When she’s not riding her bike around town you can catch her hitting up one of the many concerts and shows in the District. We were lucky enough to chat with Seremetis about how it all got started. Got a bike? Want to make new friends? Head out to DC Bike Party tonight for a Mardis Gras ride through DC. As always, the fun starts at Dupont Circle.

Feasting Famously with Emily Hines Private Affairs Director of DC’s New Members Only Hot-Spot, Sidecar As non-pretentious and seemingly unassuming as they come, Emily Hines looks like the out-of-your-league girl next door on first meeting. However, a few short sentences into a conversation and you not only realize how nice and charming she actually is; but that she is very knowledgeable about her craft and really doesn’t have time for your B.S.

On Feb. 7, 2008 the NRCC changed forever. That’s the day Michael Kaplan began his tenure at the committee. What do you get a guy who had a Crimson Tide National Championship, a Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl win and welcomed twins into the world all in the same year? Famous Birthday Wishes! If you have a moment today, wish FamousDC co-founder Amos Snead a Happy Birthday! –The FDC Team

Let’s be real, it’s been a long week and last weekend was a little out of control between DC Mardi Gras and Super Bowl. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t get a little crazy while still having some R&R time. You’ll find the best of both worlds in our top picks for the weekend.

Meet Dan Cohen. Dan is a six-time Emmy Award winning veteran journalist and documentary filmmaker as well as a native Washingtonian. His recent documentary, “Space Shuttle Columbia: Mission of Hope” has achieved mass distribution, airing on PBS stations across the country. FamousDC had the chance to speak with Dan about the incredible story he tells in his film. About the film: In 2003, Space Shuttle Columbia carried a remarkable and diverse crew, which included Israel’s first astronaut, Colonel Ilan Ramon who was the son of Holocaust survivors; however, the shuttle exploded on its’ return. Dan’s new documentary tells the untold story of Colonel Ramon and his crewmates as well as the story of a small Torah scroll from the Holocaust that was on the Shuttle.
