FAMOUS FORECAST

Another gorgeous day is upon us minus some rain in the afternoon, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying 80 degree temperatures and soaking up some morning rays.

THURSDAY JAM

Brought to you by Ana Asano of FamousDC

We’d like to throw it back to 1992 and hand the mic to one of hip hop’s most prolific shepherds: Ice Cube. “It Was a Good Day” not only was a badge of his commercial and mainstream success, but a marker of a master artist. Despite the rhythmically hypnotizing beat, he made a political statement a lot of people were deaf to and rapped about the unusual absence of violence and misfortune in South Central that day. Immortalized anthem or social critique – however you want to look at it – there’s no denying that after 24 years, Ice Cube still gets in our head.

HAPPY HOLIDAY

Your lunch order should go a little something like this today: “Make it a turkey, ham, salomi, meatball, steak and veggie sandwich with all the toppings and don’t ask questions because it’s National Sandwich Day!”

THIS DAY IN HISTORY

This was a HUGE day not only in US history, but also for Washington, DC. On this day in 1964, for the first time ever, Washington DC residents placed their votes in the presidential election after the 23rd Amendment was passed.
