FAMOUS FORECAST

Spring has sprung! Yes, we said that a few weeks ago, but this time we really mean it. The cherry blossoms are in bloom. The sun is out. And today we’ll see temperatures in the mid 70’s. Enjoy a gorgeous day in DC, folks!

THROWBACK THURSDAY JAM

Brought to you by Jason Dick, Senior Writer at Roll Call

It’s Spring Time, which means it’s Yacht Rock Time. Congress has split for recess. You can bet there are plans afoot to hit the water, break out the cold beverages and recline on the topside of a comfy boat. No one catches this vibe better than the Doobie Brothers, and “What a Fool Believes” is their masterpiece. But it’s more than just a smooth-party ditty. The upbeat sound of the 1979 synth-heavy pop number belies its deep melancholy about a relationship important to one person, but not the other: “She had a place in his life/He never made her think twice.”

And is there a better set of lines to describe the promises of a political season than these: “But what a fool believes he sees/No wise man has the power to reason away.”

Let’s get under way!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

You know the candidates, but do you know the team behind them? Here’s a look at life on the Campaign Trail.

Are you Fashionably Famous?

If you’re not participating in it yourself, you know someone who is. Here’s the best of March Madness.

We got our hands on Donald’s DC itinerary yesterday. Here are the places he stopped that weren’t on the news.

We’re finally as popular as the dogs in our office.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Happy National Cocktail Day! We’re not sure who decided to make this a holiday, but boy are we glad they did. Cheers!

THIS DAY IN HISTORY

On this day in 1977, the United States and Cuba engaged in direct negotiations for the first time since severing diplomatic relations in 1961. The two nations came together to discuss fishing rights. Though the discussion marked an advancement toward positive relations, the amiability was short lived.

My, how far we’ve come!

HIGH FIVE

Jason Dick knocked it out of the park – Thanks for the great ‘Song of the Day’ nomination, Cam Easley!

Congrats on a great event, Carolina Hurley. We want to hear stories about Gindy.
