Many of you know Alex Gangitano from her past work at Roll Call as Heard on The Hill Reporter and now The Hill’s Lobbying Reporter. Alex is also doing amazing work for charity and is a local DC champion for childhood pancreatic cancer. Alex founded a non-profit organization called the Kerri Holbrook Foundation in honor of her roommate at Villanova University who passed away just a few months after graduation.

The foundation works to assist “candidates who are faced with financial burdens resulting from their illness. Assistance can be used to pursue their education, ease financial difficulties, or to enable them to do something they are passionate about what they would otherwise be inhibited from doing.” The foundation has already helped local residents of DC  from studying abroad in college to receiving special medical treatments and helping families pay bills.

You can support this local organization by donating or by supporting their upcoming golf tournament on June 29th at Whiskey Creek, Maryland. Lunch starts at noon followed by at 1 pm Tee Time. Players can register online for $130 and spectators for $25. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

We salute Alex and the Holbrook family for their efforts to honor the life of someone who lived life to the fullest and to share that experience with others. We hope that you will support them and the inspiring stories of many in DC who take action to support the causes and people that they care about.
