In the beginning, they were just a rag-tag group of DC musicians looking for a way to jam. The group, now known as Fear of Virginia, started playing on the weekend to help blow off the stresses that come with a long work week in DC and, you know, adulthood.

Playing enough late-night covers to have the cops called a few times, the band made a deal with the DCPD. If they could come up with 10-15 of the most beautifully crafted tunes written in the DC metro area, the Police would stop hassling them for noise complaints. Since that fateful agreement, the Cops have never disrupted a Fear of Virginia get-together, and the band has the soundtrack to prove they held up their end of the bargain.

After touring the region for the last year non-stop, the band has decided to call it quits. Members simply have rocked so hard and so perfectly all over the Nation’s Capitol that there is nothing left to do. That is, except rock one last time at an over-the-top, in-your-face, Friday night rock and roll party out on H Street.

So take our advice and don’t miss this opportunity to see the last great beacon of hope for rock take the stage at Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H St N.E.) this Friday night.

Tickets are $10, and you better believe the place is going to be bumping. Amen.
