NOW at Night is the Corcoran’s new annual fall event, planned by the Corcoran Contemporaries to support and celebrate NOW at the Corcoran, the museum’s new contemporary art program.  On view now is work by Spencer Finch, whose incredible blue cloud installation glowed on Friday night from Corcoran’s central Rotunda like a big blue heart.  And a pumping one at that – with this party, the Corcoran set a new, high standard for parties that are glamorously see-and-be-seen, packed with the sort of edgy, smart, and well-dressed crowd a city like Washington should and can showcase.

If you made the party (or even if you didn’t!), be sure to check out the photos taken by Dakota Fine.

A few highlights from the evening:

– the Conveyor Belt of Awesome that catering company Occasions debuted (see pix!) – many of the artfully presented hors d’oeuvres and cocktails referenced NOW artist Spencer Finch’s work, including Dark & Stormys, and tequila sunrise sorbet parfaits.

– tons of well-dressed creative types (many of the women in blue, again referencing Finch’s cloud subject matter), including artist Jefferson Pinder, Holly Bass and notably honored guest Chris Martin, whose NOW show opens in June

– reinstalled collection of modern and contemporary art from 1945 on, including must-see work by DC artists.

A few additional pictures after the jump.
