Upgrade, America is the brainchild of Business Roundtable and the answer to the nation’s desperate call for tax reform. Yesterday, BRT pulled off the first-ever front page takeover of The Hill.

Reinforced by three sexy full-page ads, the dated first page gives Washingtonians a peak into what life was like the last time our tax code got a facelift three decades ago in 1986.

And it’s not pretty. We’re not just talking life pre-Netflix, we’re talking life pre-internet. Phones didn’t text or have selfie-mode, Justin Bieber wasn’t even a twinkle in his father’s eyes and New Kids on the Block were still new.

Dark times.
