Meet Paige Gress. Not only is she new to the District but also the FamousDC team. Paige is a recent college grad but has hit the ground running here in DC, taking on the role as a content and event producer at the FDC offices. She is inspired by conversations about global change, loves the eclectic and eccentric, and never fails to walk on the wild side of life. Keep an eye out, DC. This girl is doing big things.
1. WHAT MAKES YOU FAMOUS FOR DC?
As someone who is passionate about global perspectives and change, I like to think I bring a little something different to every new place I step into. Being fresh to the District, I hope to leave a positive mark on someone or something every day, even if that means just putting a smile on someone’s face. It is the little things in life that can go a long way and often make the biggest impact.
2. WHAT’S THE COOLEST THING YOU’VE SEEN SO FAR HERE IN DC?
Most definitely the Eastern Market. I absolutely love supporting local and small businesses that are excited and passionate about what they do and make. There are always new and unique art vendors and I can always count on my lemonade being freshly squeezed to perfection.
3. WHY DID YOU DECIDE ON DC AS A CAREER CITY?
I graduated college with a degree in International Relations, so what better place to pursue a career in the global field than Washington, DC? Did I ever expect myself to be working for a media outlet? Definitely not. But as I have come to learn, career and life plans don’t usually go exactly the way you’d expect, and often times, things turn out better than you could have imagined. That is the beauty of Washington, DC. There is always a new opportunity and unexpected journey right around the corner.
4. HOW ARE YOU BRINGING BUFFALO INTO THE DISTRICT?
With piles of snow in November and heat waves in January, there is never a dull moment in Buffalo, New York. As a true Buffalonian, we definitely have a love for fantastic food, a good beer, and great conversation. Hopefully I can bring a little Buffalo love and culture to our nation’s capital along with that 716 easy going mentality that Buffalo has mastered to perfection. Cities can be overwhelming and you often can get caught up in all the action. We just need to remember to slow our roll and enjoy the little things in life.
5. WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED TO WORK ON AT FDC?
FamousDC brings an awesome perspective to what is happening in Washington, DC and allows an unexpected voice to be heard. The word “impossible” just isn’t in the FDC vocabulary, making for an awesome work atmosphere and always inspiring us to do big things. I am really looking forward to bringing new and creative ideas to the team that will further the media outlet’s reach and create something entirely unique. Working with this high five machine while it is making big changes is really exciting and I am extremely happy that I am able to be part of the epic team.
