We’re going to the CWSG tonight. Are you? If you haven’t gotten your ticket yet maybe this pregame chatter will get your ticket finger clicking.
Lisa Desjardins (@LisaDNews): “I have been carrying around my glove all day in our newsroom. Cannot wait.”
Elise Foley (@elisefoley) : “One of the great things about the softball game is that it’s women coming together to support other women, especially young women diagnosed with breast cancer. One of the other great things is that it’s women coming together to deliver a crushing defeat to members of Congress.”
Jill Agostino (@jillagostino): “Hey Members! Almost game time — deadline looms, we’re used to this kind of pressure, are you?”
Tamara Keith (@tamarakeithNPR): “For me the Congressional Women’s Softball Game isn’t just about raising money to beat cancer (and of course beating congress!!). It’s good for our democracy because it’s a chance for women member of congress from parties that don’t usually work well together to team up against a common foe. I’m more than happy to be their foil. Plus it also brings together some of the most awesome female reporters in Washington. We may compete for scoops but in part because of softball we’re also cheering each other on year round. It is amazing.”
Christina Bellantoni (@): “I hope the rookies on the members team know what they are in for. They might look tough but we’ve got two hardcore Bad News Babes rookies who are fierce. After three months of 7 am practices and trips to the cages, it’s game on. We’re ready!
And whether you’re rooting to #beatCongress or against the press, we can all root for the most important cause of all – to #beatcancer.”
