Split, a new ride-sharing service out of start-up incubator 1776, thinks there’s room for improvement. …it’s an on-demand carpool that’s more convenient than public transportation but less expensive than a taxi. Fares range from $2 to $8 because, founders say, users are always sharing a ride, which cuts down on cost.
