When was the last time you were in a school bus, high school? Chances are you could have actually been riding in Venga’s vintage 1975 Ford school bus, now being used for the ‘Stuff The Bus’ food drive.

Venga, a mobile app for restaurants and bars around the DC area, is holding a traveling food drive through September 30 to raise money and food for DC Central Kitchen. DCCK provides job training as well as meals for homeless shelters and DC public schools. They’ve even gotten celebrities like ABC’s Cokie Roberts and Jonathan Karl, Top Chef’s Mike Isabella and Spike Mendelsohn, and Zaytinya’s Jose Andres to throw in their support for the drive.

If a chance to meet some famous faces isn’t enough, take a look at the offer cards they’re giving out. Donators are getting free drinks, 20% off a meal, and more from local restaurants who are also helping the cause. You can bring by food, cash, or just put a couple bucks on your credit card to help out. Be sure to check out the food drive’s website, stuffthebus.com, to see where they will be pulling the bus up to next!

Stop by the bus on Tuesday at We The Pizza, where the bus will be parked from 11:30-3pm. ABC’s Jonathan Karl and a few staff from Venga and DC Central Kitchen will be joining me. The best part? Spike’s been in the kitchen the past week whipping up a secret milkshake recipe for those who donate. The flavor is anybody’s guess but we here at Famous DC can’t wait to find out!
