Did you find something unusual in your Roll Call this morning?

Today’s print edition has a pullout section featuring 64 brackets about–food??

When asked, Roll Call confirmed they’re hosting a “Taste of America” contest with Chef Spike, owner of We, the Pizza and Good Stuff Eatery.

The rules are as follows: Roll Call has created 64 brackets, a minimum of one entry per state with several additional entries for the larger states. Starting this Monday, May 16th, states will “play” against other states within their region. Readers are encouraged to go online and vote for the state(s) they want to win. At the end of the week, the votes are tallied and winners advance to the next round.

The Final Four showdown will be June 21st, where Chef Spike will host a party at We, the Pizza featuring the winning foods.

Alabama is already talking smack that their pecans will win, but Texas has other ideas.

The brackets can be found here.

The contest is sponsored by the National Beer Wholesalers Association, National Restaurant Association, National Farmers Union, and National Pork Producers Council.
