Last week FamousDC was invited to attend a performance of ‘Madama Butterfly’, and we were not disappointed.

The orchestra is amazing and in lovely union with conductor Phillippe Auguin. This opera truly is a crowd pleaser, with a record 13 performances scheduled through March 19, and two casts. Sparks fly during this dramatic and moving opera.

‘Madama Butterfly’ is sung in Italian but English translations projected above the WNO stage make understanding the story a breeze. Emotions are palpable throughout and each performer achieves their objectives act by act. All in all, an incredible time and totally worth it – even for those DCers who don’t frequent the Opera House.

Tickets available. It’s definitely worth checking out.
