The former Alaska governor tried a takeoff on the importance of college football in Alabama, but it backfired on her, likely offending Alabama and Auburn fans.


She talked about the Crimson Tide but neglected to mention Auburn. Then she compounded her miscue by saying she had enjoyed meeting Alabama Coach Nick Saban. However, she mispronounced his name, calling him Saaban, as in the name of the automobile Saab.
