After years of awkward happy hours and “meet ups,” have social media experts turned the social corner?

Not quite.

A new study proves that most bloggers, tweeters, Foursquarers and Facebookers still can’t function properly if asked to engage in a non tech-related gathering.

“I’ve tried to talk to people about things other than gadgets and wikis, but I can’t,” said a socially inept Tweeter. “My mouth becomes paralyzed when someone talks to me – especially girls. I break out into cold sweats and often times even wet myself.  That never happens when I’m on Twitter.”

Psychological experts believe the issue stems from parents who spent too many years playing Dungeons and Dragons.
