You heard it here first.

New Media Strategies (NMS)  is challenging Politico to a Flip Cup competition.

Today at 2 p.m. Bill Beutler and friends will kick off their 2nd Annual NMS Flip Cup Tournament. This year they’re trying to make things more interesting and they’ve challenged Politico to "put its DC media supremacy on the line."

Will Politico take up the challenge?

Will Pete Snyder pull in a ringer and show up with Donovan McNabb on his team?

Who rules 1100 Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn?

We’ll know at 2 p.m. today.

How serious are those crazy cats over at NMS? They’re running Facebook ads targeting Politico staffers only:

UPDATE : Pete Snyder , New Media Strategies Founder and CEO, steps up the trash talk:

“Its clear that in the afterglow of profitability and the Vanity Fair bow-down that our neighbors below at Politico seem to have forgotten where they came from.  Much more Elaine’s than Tune Inn these days.  Did U Wisc-Oshkosh (Vande) forget how to throw down?  BTW, what is the mascot for Carleton College (Harris), the Hot Carls?”

UPDATE 2: Still no confirmation POLITICO will accept the challenge.

UPDATE 3: Politico didn’t show.
