It’s already been a long week amiright? Well we’ve found the cure for all of your ale-ments: the 8th annual DC Beer Week. This 8-day long series of events kicked off this past Saturday and runs until October 1st.

Chef & beer aficionado, Teddy Folkman and local distributor, Jeff Wells started the DC Beer Week celebration back in 2008 to honor the small, but enthusiastic craft beer community in the nation’s capital – which is perfect because that same nation’s capital has much enthusiasm for said craft beer community.

DC Brewers’ Guild Executive Director, Kathy Rizzo, notes that, “the most exciting part about the 2016 DC Beer Week is that the hyperlocal craft beer scene is growing so quickly that we can highlight more and more beers from the metro area specifically.”

Celebrate the closing of DC Beer Week on Saturday, October 1. Events will simultaneously be taking place all throughout the DMV. In DC, the DC Brewers’ Guild will be throwing a cask event at Atlas Brew Works. In Maryland, the celebration will continue at Denizens Brewing Company’s Funky Fest in Silver Spring. The festivities will continue in Virginia with Shirlington’s Oktoberfest.
