By Politiquette’s Marissa Mitrovich: Politiquette is a place to be inspired by the art of fashion. Readers gain an understanding of the politics of why to wear–and the etiquette of when to wear–specific styles. Marissa Mitrovich founded Politiquette with the goal of bringing further substance to the dialogue surrounding style in DC.

DC you have style and we’re making you famous for it.

Santiago Ballesteros, Jr.

Barney’s New York – Georgetown Location, 03.23.2016

Santiago works in an industry that requires him to look good and his talent to incorporate multiple trends at once without overwhelming your eyes makes him a style standout among his peers.  I love the Comme des Garcons shirt he is wearing.  He owns those polka dots!

Sean Glover

City Center, 03.29.2016

Being fly comes with the territory for Sean Glover. He spends his days working to help the music and creative community thrive in the digital age. His style aesthetic is minimalistic down to his CLAE sneakers. You have to know what’s up when it comes to style if you are wearing this lesser known streetwear brand.

Alex White and James White Thoppil

Peregrine Espresso

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to this stylish mother and son. I spotted these two having an afternoon coffee date on Capitol Hill.

Alex looks perfect for a casual spring afternoon, sporting a neutral Tory Burch blazer with an embellished neckline along with pops of pastels, including a pretty pink Kate Spade bag.  While this look is effortless, her attention to detail and quality make it clear that she has an astute sense of style.

Alex’s adorable son James is one of the most dapper males I have recently spotted on Capitol Hill.  I love all of his flare, but I am mostly a fan of his commitment to wayfarer sunglasses.

Mary Margaret Byrd

Fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year at Stoney’s on L Street, 03.23.2016

A public service announcement from Mary Margaret: Spanx makes jeans.  Spanx have in some ways replaced diamonds as “a girl’s best friend” and now this brand has become even more invaluable by adding jeans to their collection.  What an amazing way to up some already stellar fashion by wearing jeans that guarantee your ass is going to look great.  I did confirm that the fabric is definitely a legit denim texture with some stretch to it, because I assure you a “jegging” will not be featured in this column. #FTW

Ben Schenkman, Alex Lestarchick and Carlo Buonopane

Le Diplomate, 03.27.2016

I spotted this festive threesome dining at Le Diplomate on Easter Sunday.  As you may recall, Easter was a brisk, dreary day, and I love that the weather didn’t keep this crew from putting on their Easter best. I was initially drawn to the group because of the choker Alex was wearing. The 90’s choker is back, and I am all about this trend. I then noticed how well the plaid and pastel accents of Carlo and Ben went with Alex’s striped dress and thought the look of the entire group needed to be captured.

Dedi Liem Gunawan & Chouku Dai

I HAD to share this photo.  Dedi and precious Chouko Dai were also exceptionally festive for Easter.  I love their matching flowers and that Chouku Dai took a fashion risk by wearing bunny ears – nailed it!
