On the heels of a sold out show last night at DC’s historic DAR Constitution Hall, acclaimed rockers Wilco made a surprise pit stop at NPR’s headquarters in DC today, where they performed a very special Tiny Desk performance to a small crowd of noted NPR staff and fans.

Of all of the great American rock bands of present, good luck naming a better one than Wilco. The Chicago-based sextet craft a unique blend of folk, rock and roll, and alternative music to produce an incomparable sound and style. Throughout their more than 20 years together, they’ve released nine albums, many more compilations and collaborations, and toured extensively throughout the globe. With two Grammy Awards under their belt, a lengthy list of critical acclaim, and their newest album released last year, attendees at today’s Tiny Desk performance were understandably enthused to be there.

Wilco didn’t disappoint. For a little over 15 minutes, guests enjoyed a diverse set featuring an array of instruments – so many, in fact, that they could barely fit them all in the aptly titled small space. Situated amidst a sea of cubicles and shelves lined with old records, Wilco completely transformed their surroundings – from a bustling office to an intimate concert hall.

For those lucky enough to be there, it’s a memory they won’t soon forget.
