Paul Ryan started making things real this weekend tapping Dave Hoppe as his choice for Chief-of-Staff in the new Office of the Speaker. Who else will move moving into the Capitol Office suites?

Brendan Buck – This will be familiar territory for Brendan. It’s likely he will be swapping Longworth for the Capitol, returning to his former digs. That said, Brendan will probably assume a more senior advisor role (a la the great Dave Schnittger), leaving the Press Secretary job still up in the air.

So what does this mean for Doug Andres? Will he stick around at Ways and Means and run the show?

Left field: Ian Martorana recently joined Ryan’s personal office staff from Rep. Gus Bilirakis’ office. Will he move across Independence Avenue?

Also likely to make the move from Ways and Means to the Speaker’s office: Austin Smythe and Joyce Meyer. Both have been with Ryan for many years and currently hold the top spots at Ways and Means.

The Speaker’s office demands a large staff. It’s likely some posts will not be filled for a bit, but we wish these guys the best getting things up and running and dealing with the Jumbo-Slice-sized plate they have ahead of them for the next few weeks. We believe in you.
