Take a look around your office and observe the summer fashion trends. Men are sporting their casual sport coat, khakis, ties and button downs. Women, on the other hand,  are wearing summer sun dresses and linen with heavy accessories: space heaters, endless hot tea, and walking breaks in the DC heat.

pasted_image_at_2015_08_19_10_22_am_360According to The Washington Post, “It’s the time of year desperate women rely on cardigans, pashminas and space heaters to make it through the workweek in their frigid offices. And their male colleagues barely notice.”

As Washingtonians, we find ourselves in a constant battle with dreadful heat outside and a bitter cold inside OR we are hitting our boiling point even if we are inside what we thought to be an air conditioned building. Let’s just say some need to take a hint to turn on the A/C and others need to realize when the icicles are forming at the edge of our desks.

  • Your office
  • The National Portrait Gallery
  • The Air and Space museum
  • The Alexandria trolley
  • Every office in Cannon

Places that could use a little more air conditioning:

  • The ramen shop you’re wolfing down noodles in
  • Metro cars (we are begging you WMATA)
  • Capitol Lounge during 25¢ wing nights
  • Your cab ride into work after missing the bus…again
  • L’Enfant Plaza metro station

Ideas for male cooling accessories:

  • Ice Baths
  • Walk-in freezer conference rooms
  • Air conditioned office seats
  • Chilling blankets
  • Longer lasting ice cubes

There are two options at this point in the game. Turn down the A/C or change the fashion trends of the seasons.

Looks like Hillary Clinton isn’t the only one getting the DC cold shoulder.giphy-2
