Have you noticed that my weekend picks always include parties? I’m fun, that’s why. But in all seriousness, this weekend I am highlighting some other ways to enjoy what DC has to offer, in addition to where you can engage in serious revelry with your friends. We need balance, right? Let’s go!

Wednesday

Rebirth Brass Band – I was going to highlight this NOLA-based band for anyone who was interested in some hot funk but it is sold out. This makes me weep. If you’re lucky to have tickets, enjoy for me! And if you don’t, you could always try to get in anyway.

M.I.A. Lounge – have you been to M.I.A. yet? Housed in the old Club Five (my favorite venue in the city before its’ demise), party promoters are hosting a Wednesday night event that includes music by DJs Tom Lim and Sung Kim. Doors open at 10pm and there is no cover all night. Bonus: groups of 6 ladies receive a free bottle of champagne if they book in advance. So, go and get your groove on.

Thursday

Cuba Libre – it’s NATIONAL DAIQUIRI DAY?! I am squealing with excitement knowing that Cuba Libre is offering a special happy hour in honor of this special day. From 4:30-6:30pm, you can get $5 Papa Dobles and $5 Floridita cocktails, and the usual happy hour, with $4 cocktails, beers and small plates, will also be offered.

Rock the Roof – Art Soiree is throwing this rooftop sunset bash at the Beacon Sky Bar from 5pm-1am which features DC’s alternative rock band – Chute – and DJ FoTiFo spinning throughout the night. $10 if you grab your tickets online.

Mark Knight – head over to Lima to check out this UK DJ who will be performing with Matt Goldman. 18+ event; dress to impress; $10 before 11pm. Tickets available at www.clubglow.com.

Friday

1905 Restaurant – it’s been a seriously long week and I promised I would still include revelry fun. So, be the coolest cat in town by taking your coworkers, special boy or girl, or visiting friends to this new(ish) rooftop for happy hour. If you’re hungry, order the lamb sandwich. I promise it will change your life.

Papa Grows Funk – I closed out Jazz Fest with this awesome NOLA-based band’s performance at the infamous Maple Leaf and cannot imagine missing them during their stop in DC at the Hamilton. It will be good times all around, I promise. $27.50.

White Nights Party – 10 years ago, DJ Seyhan – a fixture in the DC scene (and friend!) – started the White Nights Party at the original Cities after attending a party thrown by P Diddy in the Hamptons. Always a good time, the party continues at the “new” Cities from 10pm-3am. Don your most fabulous white outfit and get your “Veuve” on.

Saturday

Periwinkle – Saturdays are for shopping or retail therapy as I call it, so why not check out this precious boutique for all your work/party needs. With three locations, you will find a variety of stylish labels including Shoshanna, Trina Turk, Yoana Baraschi, Anni Kuan, Susana Monaco, Eva Franco, Hale Bob, Nanette Lepore, Issa, Christopher Collins, Sara Campbell, and Lesley Evers.

Bodega – if you find yourself in Georgetown Saturday night, why not pop into Bodega for some yummy Spanish tapas, paella and sangria? The food is always consistent, the lounge is festive, and it is a tried and true hotspot to celebrate any special occasion. Tell my buddy Daniel I sent you.

RaPpfest – head to one of the most amazing venues in DC that boasts a stunning panoramic view of the U.S. Capitol, the National Mall and the Washington Monument – 101 Constitution Avenue’s Rooftop Terrace – for the 6th Annual RaPpfest. Guest will be treated to light bites, wine, beer and beverages, and there will be live music from the Mustangs 8 piece Motown Band. Hosted by the Rapp family (& friends), the event is in memory of Bill Rapp, with proceeds benefiting Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Bonus: the weather will be amazing! Tickets are $60 and the event is from 6-11pm.

The Dark Knight Rises take it from me, go to a proper IMAX theater to get the real effect of this movie. If it is anything like the first Dark Knight, you will not be disappointed.

Sunday

Potomac Pilates – whether you’ve been a hermit or the ultimate partygoer, Sundays are for detox (and brunch – I’ll get to that), so start your morning on the mat at this popular Pilates studio. Soon to be expanding to another location, you can take a variety of classes sure to make you the lean machine you envy. Be sure to tell them I sent you and do your best to take a class from my incredibly beautiful Pilates instructor friend, Valerie!

Argonaut – in a town that “brunches hard,” it is difficult to find the perfect spot each week. There are so many to choose from! But when I’m looking for a spot, I usually want something off-the-beaten track, and the Argonaut is just that. Plus, they offer $9 bottomless mimosas and the food is solid. What more do you need on a boozy Sunday afternoon?
