Another weekend is upon us and what better way to kick off the month of June than all my weekend picks. You know you love ‘em. So, let’s go!

Thursday

The Erik Deutsch Band – as you have heard me say time and time again, I heart my buddy Erik’s music and am *thrilled* he’ll be back in town for another performance. Catch him at his 8pm or 10pm shows tonight at Bohemian Caverns. $15.

Overlook Grand Opening – apparently there is a new rooftop party location in the DofC and the grand opening is being hosted by my friends and party promoter extraordinaires, Eric Lund, Walid Karim and Anoosh Jahanian. Text your full name to 202-RESERVE for the guest list. 10pm.

Friday

Dr. John – I recently caught Dr. John while at Jazz Fest down in New Orleans and was blown away. Join me and friends in the Birchmere’s new Flex Stage (a remodeled version of the standing-room Bandstand) for the good doctor’s funky sounds. I promise you it will be the highlight of the weekend!

DC Jazz Festival – Friday kicks off the DC area’s jazz fest with more than 100 acts at dozens of venues through June 10th. Get with it and go to everything.

Jazz in the Garden – the weather forecast isn’t looking too promising for Friday but for those willing to take a chance on what could be some serious thunderstorms should head to the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden to see the Deanna Bogart Band. Take a blanket and nibbles and grab some sangria for a night under the stars.

Afrojack – this amazing DJ will be performing at the Fillmore Silver Spring. I wonder if his rumored girlfriend Paris Hilton will be with him. Or, are they already yesterday’s news? Go and find out and LMK.

Saturday

Nationals – the Nats play at 4:05pm and Dierks Bentley will be putting on a concert after the last out. Grab your tickets now and enjoy cold beers and Shake Shack burgers at the stadium. Sounds like a winner to me.

Wilson Tavern – my buddy Reese Gardner opened up this Clarendon hotspot which has an extensive beer tap list and fun eats. Drop by after the Nats game or if you’re looking for a Saturday night party spot, this is your ticket.

Les Nubians – these bi-cultural sisters from France, Hélène and Célia Faussart have been hailed as one of the most appealing and innovative artists on the urban music scene world-wide. Catch them at one of two shows at the Hamilton this evening.

Sunday

Green Pig Bistro – this Clarendon gem now has a brunch menu and I’m itching to get by to try it. Grab your rezzie now as there are sure to be no empty seats this weekend.
