It’s time for the weekend – can we say Hallelujah?! There isn’t a super weather report but who cares – we get to sleep in, brunch and dance til dawn. So, let’s get on with my weekend picks!

Friday

Current Lounge – I always love grabbing sushi at Current and tonight they will be offering an open bar from 10-11pm. Go early for dinner and then hit the bar and dance with the pretty people in the upstairs lounge or deck.

Led Zeppelin (Cover Band) – there will be no Robert Plant sightings, but this all-female tribute band from NYC will be performing at the State Theatre, and from what I hear, they can jam. Check ‘em out for $25 at 8:30pm.

Saturday

Sweetlife Food and Music Festival – breakout electronic superstar Avicii headlines this annual festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Other artists include the Shins, Kid Cudi, Explosions in the Sky, Fitz and the Tantrums and many more. There will be plenty of eats from Shake Shack and Jose Andres’ Pepe truck and others.

The Champagne Campaign Brunch Party – don’t want to wait til 10pm to get your drink on? Head to Lost Society for this $40 all-you-can-eat brunch party with bottomless mimosas, DJs, live musicians and surprise entertainment. No walk-ups are allowed so get your rezzie by calling/texting 703-472-3407. 1-5pm.

Josephine – if you prefer the evening dance party, stop by this uber-lux club for the “Sunglasses + Advil” party featuring DJ Philipz and DJ OZ. Be sure to sport your shades.

Sunday

Kevin Spacey TV Casting – my buddy Ray Regan alerted me that Kevin Spacey’s House of Cards is filming in DC!  There’s a need for extras on a few different dates so if that’s your thing, go to www.emma.com/centralcasting to see the list of roles and other information.

Forward Festival – this annual festival showcases both top-flight and emerging electronic music artists, from dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass to ambient, soulful and jazzy soundscapes.

Monday

Candlebox – if you want to be transported back to the 90s, head to the Fillmore in Silver Spring to see this band perform. Bonus: locals Honor by August will be the opening act. Great, now I’ve got “Now maybe, I didn’t mean to treat you baaaaad, but I did it anyway,” stuck in my head.

Tuesday

Marilyn Manson – if I wasn’t going out of town the following day, I would so hit this up. I’m not the biggest MM fan but have always wanted to check him out live. It’s a musical curiosity thing, what can I say. If you are a die hard, head up to the Fillmore in Silver Spring.

If you have events you would like to see featured in FamousDC’s Weekend Picks, hit me up at [email protected].
