Alley oop! March Madness is upon us as is St. Paddy’s Day so being a b-ball fanatic and Irish, I am in heaven! Add in a fab weather report and there is no reason anyone should be indoors this weekend. Let’s get this weekend started!

Friday

March Madness – the only thing on my mind this weekend is basketball and fortunately, that is also the case at most bars around town. My favorite picks for game viewing tonight and through the rest of the weekend are: Black Finn, Crystal City Sports Pub, Cleveland Park Bar & Grill, The Mighty Pint, Public Bar, Rustico, Union Pub, Whitlow’s on Wilson. (Go HEELS!)

FamousDC March Madness Bracket – if you didn’t get your bracket in by March 15th, you can still follow along with the competition that we are having a blast hosting. Special thanks to those who offered up the amazing prizes!

Saturday

St. Patrick’s Day!! – if you are planning to hit one of the many bars hosting St. Paddy’s celebrations, heed my warning and get there *early*! You will thank me later. My suggestions for green revelry are: The Dubliner, Fado Irish Pub, Irish Whiskey Public House, Logan Tavern, PJ Clarke’s, Mackey’s Public House, Ireland’s Four Courts, Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub. Have fun!

Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Marathon – formerly the National Marathon, this new iteration will send runners along full- and half-marathon courses through the city and greet them at the finish with entertainment outside the D.C. Armory from Switchfoot, Jon Carroll and School of Rock. Go out and support your favorite runner!

Sunday

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey – if tigers, clowns and acrobats are your thing, head to the Verizon Center for a day at the circus!

Rocked – head to the POV rooftop at the W Hotel for afternoon cocktails and check out the photography exhibit of Mick Rock – a concert photographer who has spent 40 years snapping iconic photos of David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Iggy Pop and many more. Sounds swoon-worthy to me!

Melody Tavern – there are SO many awesome spots for brunch in DC, but have you ever heard a deal as good as $7 bottomless mimosas?! Take a trip across the Potomac to my hood and enjoy the jazz brunch Melody offers in Crystal City. Just be sure to take a cab home.
