If you’ve never been to the “Social Safeway” in Georgetown, but have heard various stories of this particular grocery store being the “it” place to go…believe it. Believe it all. And stop judging your friends for finding a date in the cereal aisle. Seriously – where else can you go to buy your groceries and hang out at a lounge, all while secretly hoping the man/woman of your dreams walks in?

When you walk into Social Safeway you feel as if you have literally stepped into a commercial. There is not an apple out of place, or a bottle turned backwards. Everything is perfect. So perfect in fact that they regularly offer events that are free to the public. That also include alcohol. Like we said, perfect. Yesterday FamousDC attended a free Sangria and Spanish Cheese Tasting event featuring the Bar Manager Juan Jimenez of MIO Restaurant.  Mixing two different sangrias, white and red, Juan didn’t disappoint with both of his fantastically mixed concoctions. Safeway provided the food and guests provided the entertainment.

If you have not been to a Social Safeway event, we’d like to warn you about the dress code. Slap on your heels or favorite mom capris because it’s all accepted and encouraged. The crowd was great, the food was wonderful and the sangria was fantastic.
