Here’s something you knew, but never had the facts to back:

Forty percent of the messages on Twitter are "pointless babble" along the lines of "I am eating a sandwich now," according to a study conducted by a US market research firm. [a little bird told us]

Pointless babble also includes:

Headed to DC.
Headed back to DC.
About to take off.
Another flight delay.
Just landed.
Thinking about dinner.
Pregnant again, ugh.

Seriously though, we love how EVEN INCLUDING self-promotion, conversational, AND pass-along value, there’s STILL room for an entirely separate category of tweets even beneath those three.

PS: We can think of 535 people really hoping they don’t cross reference this Twitter study with their day jobs.
