If you’ve ever lived in the Midwest or know someone who has, you are well aware that the states of Kansas and Missouri do not like each other.  And by not like, we’re talking a deep-seated hatred that’s not going anywhere anytime soon.  And even though there are other huge state rivalries like Utah vs. Maine, Hawaii vs. Nebraska and Texas vs. Mexico, the Kansas vs. Missouri rivalry might be the most extreme.

Proof is in this little item we recently picked up on a popular Missouri blog:

As Missourians bask in the afterglow of Monday night’s basketball Mizzou victory over those hated Kansas Jayhawks … it must be pointed out that not only humans are celebrating this victory over the “Wheat Wavers.” At least one dog … a cute dog … celebrates, as well.
….

This is Senator Kit Bond’s dog, Tiger Bond, who knows what to do with a stuffed animal donning the letters “KU.” Clearly, this beast is launching a full dental assault on this helpless and hapless bird – and the attack is warranted!

And just when you thought the state-hating would end there, the Missouri blog continued:

Now … for a couple of serious questions … If a stalk of wheat falls in Kansas – where there is not much to do – and nobody hears it fall … does it really fall?

…Because nothing says border rivalry like a few good wheat jokes, right?

We here at FDC are so fascinated by this state hatred, we’ve decided to conduct a quick poll and get this over with for once and all.
