Subject: Important Message from US Senate SAA
The USCP have advised us that Independence Ave at 7th St SW has been unexpectedly closed by Metro Police Department and is not expected to re-open. This is contrary to the Multi Agency plan that was agreed to. This development severely impacts the use of essential Congressional support placards. Vehicles on eastbound Independence Ave are being turned around.
We urge Members and staff to avoid this area and use alternate routes coming from the North on Massachusetts Ave or in the south along M Street.
Also consider using the Capital Beltway to come into town from the East. No placards are required for this.
More information will be provided as soon as we have updates.
