“Walking with Anthony” a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for Spinal Cord Injury is teaming up with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Alumni Association to present the 7th Annual Charity Celebrity Golf Tournament on September 30th at the Country Club of Fairfax. The event will feature a day of golf with Washington Redskins current players, alumni, legendary sports celebrities and VIP guests raising awareness during National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month.

Walking With Anthony was inspired by Anthony Purcell, a young man who became paralyzed during a tragic accident in 2010, but can now stand with the help of a walker, work, and drive after years of hard work and physical therapy training. Walking With Anthony is dedicated to raising awareness of the impact of spinal cord injuries (SCI), raising funds to provide financial assistance for SCI victims, expanding rehabilitation centers, and supporting research relating to SCI rehabilitation.

This years event will feature Master of Ceremonies former Washington Redskin Player and sports media personality Rick “Doc” Walker, bbq lunch, golf, cocktail hour, raffles, and awards. The event will honor Chris Norton for the great strides he has made in the Spinal Cord Injury community as an author and motivational speaker. Norton, now 27-years old, suffered a spinal cord injury while playing in an Iowa college football game. Doctors gave Chris a 3% chance of moving anything below his neck again. Four years later, he defied the odds and walked across stage at his college graduation with his fiancé, Emily Summers.
