Despite recent controversies and a boycott by the Commander-in-Chief, the White House Correspondents Weekend will continue with pre and post parties, galas, receptions, and other festivities surrounding the main dinner on hosted on Saturday April 27th. This year’s dinner will feature biographer Ron Chernow who has written widely acclaimed books covering the lives of the Founding Fathers, Presidents, and statement. The annual event hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association marks a celebration of the 1st Amendment.

In addition to the exclusive dinner, several media outlets, blogs, and publications host a series of events leading up and after the dinner bringing together an eclectic mix of media, politicos, celebrities, and other elite Washingtonians who were able to score an invite. Attending these events is usually a sign of passage that you have made it onto “the list” or at least “a list” of connected people inside the beltway. This weekend in a nutshell is This Town intermixed with celebrations of journalism and freedom of the press.

White House Correspondents Weekend is also known for some of the best parties in Washington with top shelf live entertainment, decor, venues, food & beverage, and style. Here are some of the best events of the weekend if you were lucky enough to get an invite.

FiscalNote and CQ Roll Call VIP Event April 26th

This event will feature a discussion with CQ Roll Call journalists and cocktails and entertainment at The Intercontinental Wharf.

Politics Without Prejudice: A Toast to Freedom of the Press Friday April 26th

The Hill celebrates freedom of the press with a celebration at the National Portrait Gallery with a special DJ performance by Grammy Award-Winning music journalist Questlove.

Capitol File Magazine After-Party April 27th

Capitol File Magazine is featuring House of Cards star Michael Kelly (Doug Stamper) at their after party at The Dupont Circle Hotel. Kelly also did an interview for the magazine last month.

The After Party April 27th

Hosted by NBC News, MSNBC, and Comcast Universal at the Embassy of Italy. In honor of the event the hosts will also be making a contribution to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

The Political Hangover Brunch April 28th

The event hosted by CNN will feature a “Laissez Le Bons Temps Roulez (Let the Good Times Roll)” theme and is traditional the official but unofficial concluding event of the weekend.
